My Coming-of-Age Project
For my Introduction to Barrio Fiesta class, the final project was to come up with a way to tell your coming-of-age and this was mine. But there are certain parts to it that you have to understand to see how it relates to me.
Freestyle/Choreography
When I first got into dance, all I was interested in was straight up choreography. I knew about freestyling, but it wasn’t really my thing back then. Just recently when I decided to take a break from dance, I got into freestyling. Since I wasn’t learning any new choreography to perform, I had nothing to do but freestyle. I actually prefer it now lol. There’s something raw in it that I really like. Being in the moment with the music feels amazing.
My Life, at the moment
At this point in time, I can say that I have been through a lot. Many ups and some major downs. But through it all, I know that I deserve to smile. I know that if I have a good outlook on life and try to view things from a different perspective, I will live a good life. This is the first time in my life that things have all actually been going really good, but it was definitely not easy. Of course there are things that I need to work on or things to do, but they will always be there. Right here and now, I am a happy son, brother, friend, student, dancer, and person but I’m always left with the hunger for more. The road will definitely not be easy, but I am ready for the journey. I know that as long as I have a good head on my shoulders, good people surrounding me, and God watching me, I’ll be good.
Christmas Time
My favorite season is Winter because of Christmas and my birthday. When I read that Justin Bieber was going to have a Christmas album, I was really excited. When I bought the CD, “Fa La La” was instantly my favorite. It made me feel really happy and put me in the holiday spirit. I’m turning 20 and I’m becoming an adult, whether I like it not. Everything that has lead me up to where I am now has made me the person I am today. I have learned that the things worth having in this life don’t come easy. I have to put time and work into things that I believe in if I want to be happy. Finding out what to do is half the battle. The rest is actually doing it.
